Some crazy action and the title has become a hot potato. I like what's going on with Ion...it'll be interesting to see what he does next. Fun stuff here.

In the days after IFC 20, the promotion made several announcements. First, they announced The Purge. This is the IFC's name for a periodic roster reset. For this initial Purge, the IFC releases X'ian, UK Bruiser, and, to the surprise of many, Tiki Boom Addtionally, Rocky, despite being ranked in the Top 10, is placed on special probation status. This simply means that when he loses, he's gone. 2 of the fighters released statements. Tiki Boom declared that he would get things back on track and would be back in the IFC very soon. X'ian called the decision unfair, and questioned why Saint Nick was still involved with the promotion. The IFC responded that representatives of the Sentinels were given special consideration due to their position as protectors of the Nil-Zone, and the choice had been taken out of their hands.
They followed this up with an announcement regarding the Mr. Ion/Immunity Medallion situation. Their answer was that they simply wouldn't book Mr. Ion to any fights. They were still working to determine legal means to get around the fact that he was indeed the IM holder. They said it might involve restructuring the Probation Pool and the method of moving between the PP and the Top 10. Regardless of the final decision, the IFC would not be held hostage by Mr. Ion.
This announcement was followed up by a holo-vid from Mr. Ion that he posted to the Galacti-Net. The video showed Ion in the main cabin of a two person space cruiser. He was holding the Immunity Medallion. He opened the video with the following statement. "While what I'm about to do may seem arbitrary or even silly, it has been carefully planned out after much consultation with my legal counsel. The IFC are the biggest game in town, and they felt like their place in the fighting hierarchy would allow them to run roughshod over their fighters, whether contracted or part-time. They falsely believed that they didn't have to bother codifying all their by-laws because who would dare challenge their almighty word. Well, they have since found out that not only will I challenge them…I will better them. I am about to put them in an even more uncomfortable situation, and I can assure them that before long, they will be begging me to fight under their banner". With that, Ion opened the interior door of the airlock. He tossed the IM on the floor of the airlock and shut the interior door. He then activated the exterior door. The cabin alarm sounded that's designed to let those on the ship know that the airlock was about to open. The camera showed the IM float upwards as gravity was shut off in the airlock. The outer airlock door opened and the medallion was gone, sucked out into the vacuum of space. The video cut back to Ion who laughed. "The holder of the Immunity Medallion cannot be released from the IFC. I have no intention of cashing it in. Despite not actually having possession of the medallion, I am still the technical holder. However, I can't turn it in if I want to do so. It's out there….somewhere. I will be the Immunity Medallion holder, and all the rights and privileges that come with it, until I decide I don't want them anymore. Any attempt to circumvent the system on the part of the IFC will be meant by legal action. They made this mess, and they will wallow in it until I decide I don't care any more. Thank you." The IFC followed this up with a brief statement demanding recompense for the cost of the physical medallion from Mr. Ion, and proclaiming that their own legal counsel would quickly find a solution to this situation.

This is brilliant writing, Ion gets the upper hand this time. I enjoyed that.

Add Rocky to the list of released fighters. This ends the current Purge, but there is no set time period between them.
IFC 21 Grudge Match Rocky vs. Ken Po Ryuken Grudge Match Hollywood Gunn vs. Rabbid Spine Smasher Grudge Match Vincitor vs. Krusher Khan Tatsunori Twister Grudge Match Honest Abe vs. Buck Tomkins Lincoln Lock Yoko-Ohno vs. Saint Nick Heavy Tiger Elbow El Halcon vs. Punk A.D. El Halcon Punch Freakenstein vs. Myron Reed The Freakout Rocky quickly joins the ranks of ex-IFC fighters by losing his first match since being placed on Special Probation. The IFC announced that there were several more potential Special Probations forthcoming. The News Services covering the IFC are reporting that fighters in the Probation Pool are already expressing displeasure at the Mr. Ion situation. They are asking how they can move up to the Top 10 and actual title contention while he controls the Immunity Medallion. The IFC replied that the situation was still under review.

The title hot potato continues as Party Pirate beats Bobcat Jack to take the title.

He said that if they would give him a 10-card fight contract that he would "release" the rights and privileges of the IM holder despite not being able to physically return the medallion. The IFC response was a terse "we don't negotiate with terrorists".

Another mystery begins...ok, it's probably not really a mystery but for storyline purposes I'm calling it that IFC Showcase 12 Freakenstein vs. Yoko-Ohno The Freakout El Halcon vs. Punk AD El Halcon Punch Saint Nick vs. Warhawk War Dance Myron Reed vs. El Pikador Fire Fly As El Halcon was making his way to the locker room after his match, he was attacked by another masked man. The stranger administered a beating to El Halcon before El Pikador came out to assist. Unfortunately, he wasn't very effective against the stranger and received a major beatdown himself. By the time the attacker turned his attention back to El Halcon, security and medical personnel had created some space between them. The stranger reassessed the situation and fled.

Back to playing...real world time taking away from valuable play time stinks! Anyhow..The unlikely champion, Party Pirate, successfully defends his title. IFC 23 IFC Championship Party Pirate © vs. Ken Po Party Punch Hollywood Gunn vs. Honest Abe Hollywood KO Rabbid vs. Krusher Khan Fast Forward Death Star vs. Bobcat Jack Death March Mystery Reward Tournament Freakenstein vs. Myron Reed The Freakout Mystery Reward Tournament Yoko-Ohno vs. Warhawk Indian Deathlock As the live crowd was about to start exiting the arena, the lights went out. Considering how the power generation works in these high-tech arenas, that's theoretically impossible. There are about 5 layers of back-ups and redundancies. An automated voice advised the crowd to remain in their seats. Suddenly, a ball of fire appeared above the ring, and tendrils of flame quickly began pulling away from the ball. The tendrils formed letters, then a phrase, which was at first out of focus. Finally, the flaming letters shifted slightly and the phrase became legible. "Tell 'em I'm coming and Hell's coming with me!" The letters hung in the air for a few seconds and then began to fade. As they did, a female giggle filled the air, and then the lights came back up.

Just some follow-up announcement...
The IFC released a statement saying that they are investigating the attack on El Halcon and El Pikador by the unknown masked assailant. Both men suffered injuries during the attack and will miss some shows.
Also, the "mystery reward" will be revealed after a winner has been determined between Freakenstein and Warhawk. Both men will benefit from the reward, and the match result will determine who benefits more.
They were silent on the incident at the end of IFC 23, despite being pressed by the Galactic Sports media. Several reporters did mention thru personal uplinks that Little Miss Spookiness was eligible to return at IFC 25. This event did have her mark on it (as well as the distinctly female giggle). When she left after losing the match to Havoc Killbourne, she did say that when she returned "HE" would be revealed as well.

A basic showcase card with several new faces trying out for the committee. However, the important part came about due to the unscheduled match that opened the show.
IFC Showcase 13 Yoko-Ohno vs. Punk AD Sonic Boom Kick Lazer Man vs. Fire Ant Typhoon Knee Smash Southern G vs. James Jeffries Sliced Bread #2 Myron Reed vs. American Beetle Fast Forward Saint Nick vs. Mr. Ion Sentinel Sleeper Before the first match, Nick came to the ring. He said he had good news for the fans as they were getting an additional unscheduled match. A few minutes ago, he ran into Mr. Ion backstage. The meeting was not cordial. They almost came to blows, and Nick ended up challenging Ion to a fight. To his surprise, not only did Ion accept, but added that the match had to be tonight. Ion said that regardless of the outcome, he wouldn't be making any changes to his current status. Nick went on to win. He asked Ion to do the right thing and relinquish his position as IM holder so that the IFC could resume operating normally.
Ion replied, "Nick you've got tunnel vision and you're not seeing a bigger picture. The IFC will never operate normally again, and it has nothing to do with me. I know you can feel it. You're a Sentinel. You're denying it, but you can feel it. You think fixing my situation will somehow make it go away, but you're wrong. Believe it or not, Nick, I do what I do to help the IFC. I'm not exactly sure how myself, but I am keeping the IFC from being destroyed by its own arrogance."
Nick scoffed, "You really believe that, don't you, Ion? The only piece of arrogance in this scenario is you. Your ego has overwritten your sense of decency."
Ion replied, "You won't understand until it's too late, Nick." Ion offered a handshake, but Nick just stood and stared. Ion turned to leave, "Congratulation on the big win. I hope for the sake of the IFC that you've got a lot more of them in you."
