So the other day I stumbled across a description of the 2023 Premier League Darts tournament... and thought it might be a cool idea for using in GFP. (WARNING: this is best described as a tournament of tournaments, with more tournaments thrown in for those who need more tournaments with their tournaments) Format: - Tournament has 8 participants
- Tournament takes place over 17 "nights" (events)
- Each night is an 8 person single elimination tournament with all 8 participants
- Each night, points are awarded: 5 points to the tournament winner, 3 points to the tournament runner up, 2 points each to the losers in the semi finals, 0 points to the losers in the first round
- On night 17, the top 4 compete for the tournament title (1st vs 4th, 2nd vs 3rd, winners in the finals)
Other notes - For weeks 1-7, everyone will meet everyone else in a quarterfinal match (basically, imagine a round robin for figuring out the first round matches, and randomize the semi finals)
- For week 8, tournament seeding is based on the overall standings: 1 v 8, 4 v 5, 2 v 7, 3 v 6
- Weeks 9-15, same as 1-7; everyone battles everyone else once in a quarter final match, but the semi finals are random
- Week 16, like week 8: 1 v 8, 4 v 5, 2 v 7, 3 v 6
Tiebreakers: If there's ties in the standings, most Tournament Wins is first tie breaker, then Matches Won is the second tie breaker (wiki page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Premier_League_Darts)

An interesting thing to try out, for sure. I'll probably give it a shot in either GFP and/or my Fire Pro.
