Good topic. I feel that I don't really get in a slump here as I did in COTG. COTG had a set time frame and if you didn't keep playing, you could almost keep falling behind because the next year was coming...and now you'd be a year behind. As for my IFC, I don't feel rushed to keep up on anything, which is why I purposely didn't set a time line when making the game. I get busy with the kids' activities, work, life, etc. like everyone else, but it's always there when I come back and I can go any direction without a rush. People ask me "what sets are next in the the time line?" I tell them the order released. They ask me what I do about roster creep. I tell them there is no defined roster. I envision it like playing Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat or other fighting game, where there's no real roster, but one big character selection screen. And I for one love that one big character selection screen!

I like doing these little tours. I can binge roll a bunch of shows, then over the next few days post my write-ups, then take some time off while I plot out my next mini tour. Allows me to take some breaks at good stopping points in the action and then go take care of some other stuff, while plotting out ideas for the next mini run.

That's why I turned into more of a Legends player. I could do my own thing and never be worried about catching up. I really lost interest in CotG with the roster having such high turnover now. I would get to the end of a year and get screwed by my champions leaving or storylines getting ruined. I know those are the breaks but it felt like that got worse when they hit the New Beginning and Color eras.

I should add that I think I was one of the few people that liked the bloated GWF rosters though.

I should add that I think I was one of the few people that liked the bloated GWF rosters though. Well I am running 2088 and a few more would have helped. But it also makes for shorter years.

I feel like it took until 2089 to have a roster that felt functional. Galactic Punisher and Bounty Hunter really complete that upper mid-card spot that was lacking. 2090 and 2091 is where I feel the game realized it's true potential. The GWF really came alive when Star Warrior got his upgrade.

One reason I think that I'll avoid slumps with go.fight.pow is the element of "anyone can win" that is part and parcel of this game. Sure, there are wrestlers who have more "ability" if you will, built into their respective cards. But, for the most part, when I match up 2 wrestlers, anything....and I mean anything....can happen.
And this results in each of us pushing whoever we want to push. Our respective Main Eventers are whoever we each see as "Main Eventers". I find that a lot of fun (it's also one of the reasons that in the COTG/LOW world, I continue to experiment with playing with go.fight.pow rules, i.e., converting cards to fit the go.fight.pow model, which works pretty well)!
The bottom line for me is the go.fight.pow game engine tends to prevent slumps, just by virtue of giving me "anything can happen" each time I pick up the dice.

I love how I can push whoever I want to. I haven't seen any card that is completely unbeatable. There was one in either the FA2 or CoT set that I thought might be hard but haven't got to use it yet to see.

There was one in either the FA2 or CoT set that I thought might be hard but haven't got to use it yet to see. It is true that some guys do have certain stats that might seem like how can anyone over come that, but it is amazing how the dice don't seem to care. Guys who are powerhouse wrestlers in one fed, can't buy a win in others. I was just pre-rolling out a best of 7 series last night between Thunder Gold and Ricky Stallion and looking at the cards these guys are both tough to beat. But it went the full 7 matches and each match could have gone either way. Same thing happened with some Duos matches last night as well, even though I figured Blunt Force Trauma should be more dominate against two singles together, the die was not with them.

I really loved that 2110 era where you didn't have that dominate force in the GWF. There was a 8 year period where it felt like there were 8-10 guys that were capable of being the guy. But like I said, I liked the unpopular stuff in the GWF like a big roster and not having a dominate guy on top all the time.
I've fallen a few editions behind on just following the story though. So things might have gone back to more of what I like.

I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and comments...I’m battling out of an extended slump but had a big boost today. My 5 year old daughter, despite her limited reading ability, wanted to play instead of just looking at the cards. She beat her old man 2 out of 3 times, too!

I’m really excited that you had that experience, I love it when my daughter plays or has the time

Thanks! It was awesome...she asked me to keep “her cards” separate for next time. Not sure when that will be, but I’m looking forward to it.

My daughter just turned 8 and she whoops me more often than not! It is fun when the kids want to share in the game. This past summer ljacone and his children were playing with my daughter and I and we had a blast.

Well thought i was gonna roll some games and get back in groove. However, instead my son has been sick and in the hospital since Wed. Don't worry he is fine and we are all home as of today. Maybe tomorrow I can fit in a card. Probably good Im low on the TNT list.
