I have had this problem a lot in CotG, but this is the first time with GFP. I think I am in a slump due to being a new dad. However, it got me thinking. Do you get in slumps with GFP and how do you deal with them?

I kind of naturally come and go from the game. CotG I do hit slumps with. With GFP, I seem to be more effected by what's going on in my life. If work is super busy and stressful I won't play.

Back in my days of playing my many FG feds I'd skip playing because I didn't feel like it, that has only happen once with my current fed with the GFP system. I really enjoy the GFP game and not having a real slump on my side is a testament to the overall experience with the game being fun. Now I do take breaks, but that is generally for a few days and I like playing on my days off, but will play after work too...

That happens quite a bit to me, but it sort of does feel better whenever I get back into it. It's refreshing. With CotG, I made my presentation WAY too complicated on the other board, and I did a lot of gimmicks in the game that made it a bit more cumbersome.

Where my CotG slumps came from is I just ran too many shows for most promotions and sometimes I would just get frustrated when the dice would throw my fed into chaos.

I was hit with slumps in FG games because it just took so long to play things out and I just got bored. I have months of results for my FG stuff that may never get posted. I tried the Power Series idea and that was fun but I just found myself not wanting to buy cards and roll out matches anymore. I would simulate all my of it and backwards book from results. (Remember, I have been often lambasted for playing "wrong")
But with GFP I have not had any slumps so far. Game plays much faster and I also feel more invested in this game. That is not to disparage the FG guys or the game, but GFP has always felt different to me. Just way more connected to the overall product.
Life does get in my why of playing sometimes, but I don't look at that as a slump. Just things getting in the way.

Yeah I do think this is mainly due to new dad. Plus my playing partner is basically too tired too. Going to be weird rolling IFC and Glitter by myself.

I did a lot of rolling out matches while I was laid up in the the hospital and when I could not walk. It is more fun to play with someone but I find solo play enjoyable as well.

Yeah its fun both ways. Think maybe I will try to set up two cards tonight and roll tomorrow.

Do you get in slumps with GFP and how do you deal with them? Just wait, not on playing, but until the kiddo gets old enough to play...then the REAL fun starts!! No offense to the wife 😁

Smash Brothers Ultimate is probably going to eat into my GFP time though.

I find taking breaks keeps my fire going for this game.

Between the both of us I hope he is a little nerdy.

What you've said here is exactly what I feel, the big thing is being invested with helping the Kickstarters and my creations being officially part of the game...

Good topic. I feel that I don't really get in a slump here as I did in COTG. COTG had a set time frame and if you didn't keep playing, you could almost keep falling behind because the next year was coming...and now you'd be a year behind.
As for my IFC, I don't feel rushed to keep up on anything, which is why I purposely didn't set a time line when making the game. I get busy with the kids' activities, work, life, etc. like everyone else, but it's always there when I come back and I can go any direction without a rush.
People ask me "what sets are next in the the time line?" I tell them the order released. They ask me what I do about roster creep. I tell them there is no defined roster. I envision it like playing Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat or other fighting game, where there's no real roster, but one big character selection screen.
