Good morning all! This post is not intended to knock any other wrestling/combat game's game engine in any way, shape, or form. I play other games to be sure, and all have their merits. So, just wanted to preface my remarks by saying that. I'm not one to ever start negative discussions!
But, the more I play go.fight.pow, the more I appreciate its game engine. The main advantage it has is that it doesn't ever feel like its "stuck" at a certain level, in any match, and it always feels like at any moment, the match will end (which is a "duh" on my part, because it will end at any point!). And, while in general the matches are shorter and to the point, that doesn't mean they don't convey a full story, or allow for a real match feel to take place....because on both points, they do. And there are matches which can run really long, and are "mat classics" if you will, but again, they never feel like they run long because they are "stuck" on one particular level of the game engine....they still have that "it will end at any moment" feel to them! This holds especially true with tag matches, which sometimes can run really, really long in other games.
I guess what I'm saying is there's a difference between a match that is long and exciting, and a match that is just....long. go.fight.pow tends to give us matches that when they do run long, are still exciting.
It's a great game engine, and I for one have really grown to appreciate it. So much so that I will play other games and simply convert their game engine over to go.fight.pow's at times! Just one man's observation....in short, its just a blast to play!

Agreed. The game is truly tailored for the whole family. It is easy to play, but not too simple that you get bored. It leads to hours of fun for everyone, but you don't need any charts or special rules to play. Just saying.

I agree. I've had fights that were over quickly to lengthy, but the engine makes each fight feel smooth and not bogged down. The GFP system maybe simple looking, but it is a deep one, which makes it all good...

So, this weekend was a perfect example of why I love GFP. Haley wanted to play GFP with me, which is always great, so she went through some cards and pulled out like 40 women cards and we ran a huge tag team tournament and some extra singles matches all while watching World Collide. Then Sunday, during the pre-show for the Royal Rumble, Hals pulled out a stack of men's cards and we ran all kinds of matches. This game allows me to spend time with my daughter playing a game that we both enjoy and we get to laugh and have fun together, because so much time is wasted everyday scrambling and working and all the other crap that we don't get time to just relax.
