First of all, I wanted to introduce myself, I am Nic, like Eric, I am an Iowan. I am new to GFP, and really enjoying it so far. I have played FG stuff for 5 or 6 years, and and came upon this just messing around reading the FG board one day. I put in an order late last week, and I got chance to have the stuff hand delivered to me by Eric and his girls, and he hooked me up with my order, and then some, and then some more. Which did a couple key things- it got me hooked on his product, and when I was telling my wife about it, it earned some goodwill, so now when I make purchases going forward I will just have to remind her what a good guy Eric is! I enjoy how streamlined the game appears, matches move along smoothly.
I am in the beginning stages of getting everything organized. I played some practice matches then jumped into my title tournaments. I figured title tournaments would give my a chance to get to know the characters and the card mechanics.
My Intergalatic Grand Champion is Rampage. Rampage won a 32 man single elimination tournament by beating Ricky Stallion in the finals, after he knocked off a streaking Road Rage in the semis.
The next tournament I ran was a 16 team duos tournament which was won by Samoan Hit Squad, who appeared fairly dominant in the duos tournament, they knocked off CORPS in the finals.
From there I moved on to the 16 man juniors tournament, as a fan of NJPW, I look favorably on the juniors, it won't necessarily be always considered a secondary title in my feds. Mr. Excellent won narrowly escaping Air Wolf in the semis, and then having a RUMBLE filled match up with UK Bruiser.
The next tournament I took on was for the Heritage Championship, Bobcat Jack beat Harley Davis to capture this one. Lots of fun matches filled up this tournament, including Ganzorig dominating his semi final match against Davis only to lose his mind and get DQ'd.
My final of my tournaments was an 8 lady, Glitter tournament that saw Addy Tude beat Ratchet to claim the title.
Now comes the fun part of setting up my main roster, setting a schedule, highlighted by many of the tournaments and specialty matches I have read and will continue to read about doing by this community.
If you are still reading here, I would love to read some hints, some tips, some ways you have organized things, anything, just to give me a little direction. I am toying with what I think will be my first created faction-- I was watching NJPW Dominion as I was rolling out some stuff -- I think I am going to have a "tweener" faction -- Los Ingobernables de Universo -- led by the most "ingobernable of the all -- Great Scott joined by Punk AD, I am stilling looking to add a single or two (possibly Big South) and a tag team. Sometimes, you have step outside the law to take down Powermonger, right?
Looking forward to reading more from all of you!

Great to have you on board, I'd say go with what you feels good and you can always adapt your fed with new stuff that comes out. My *IFC INTERGALACTIC FIGHT CLUB has a core history to it, but I'm in Game Year 16 and I've adapted my roster and stories without restarting. Basically I have fun and that is key, hope to see you post your results, good to have you here...

I'm happy to see that you (and the wife) are pleased with your choices. You'll have to let her know that the game is also very affordable, unlike other games at almost twice the price!
I run my league in the Lost Sectors era, being a territory fan. So I have the champion tour most promotions, and depending on the dice roll, defend or at least have a match.
The crazy thing is, Ricky Stallion won the title from PowerMonger, and is giving every territory fits, as he's either losing non-title matches and winning the rematches, or he's getting DQ'd in regular title matches, creating major heel heat, just like he's designed to do. It's great.
As far as tips, do what makes you happy. Read other people's work and you may get an idea or two from them. I enjoyed what Stu Bucco does with his league and have patterned mine after his, but with my own twist. There is no right or wrong way to do this, so have fun and just let it roll...things may come to you later. The nice thing about this game is that you can tailor it on the fly and not have to worry about resetting your whole history.
Thank you for coming aboard, it was nice meeting you, and I hope you have fun and continue to delve into this exciting universe we've created here.

Welcome to the game. You'll fine that this game will play to your own style and direction. I play a lot of wrestling games, but this one allows for so much freedom, creativity, speed, accuracy, representation, and fun. Play how you want with who you want, that's the beauty of it all.

Welcome to the game! It's great to have you on board with us. I think the majority of us here also started with FG, so you're in good company. I will happily share that since this game came into existence I haven't purchased another FG product. There just isn't the need anymore.
With regards to organizing your fed...I've been resetting my fed to get ready for action.
I may not be the one to share guidance on this topic as I've always been the one guy that does his own thing. I did it with my FG feds, I do that with GFP.
My first "pro tip" piece of advice is to read different feds in Fight Central. You get lots of ideas there from other promoters & even ideas on how to work with new characters that you haven't worked with before. You can also get great ideas for how to set up and run your fed if you get stuck. Also, let people know that you're looking at their work and share your thoughts if you have time. People always seem to enjoy the interaction and it helps build community.
Next, pick a hero for your federation and build around him or her. Start by picking a main villain to give your hero someone to fight, then build an organization around him or her. Underlings and mini-bosses for the hero to overcome. Have some ideas for those that might come to help your hero over time. In my case, this was The Messenger. He was my character that I created for FG, so I had a lot invested in him already. I built my first fed around him and gave him lots of bad guys to overcome. He wasn't my first champion - that was Ratchet, but regardless of everything that was happening I could always work on The Messenger's story when I got stuck for ideas.
Third and perhaps most important: keep it simple. Remember this is a game and you're supposed to have fun playing it. If you find your storytelling is a chore, cut back and simplify. This is a phenomenal game system that is very streamlined. You can have instant kills, or marathon matches that have you on the edge of your seat yelling at every POP result. Moreover, you never know who is going to win each match. In FG certain cards are designed to win most of their matches. Here every fighter has close to an even chance of victory. Certainly there are those guys who are very difficult to defeat, but those guys aren't invincible and often those defeats are the most memorable for you.
Ultimately remember it's your game. Do what you want. Your enjoyment and happiness are really all that matters here. There isn't anybody here that will tell you you're doing it wrong.
Welcome aboard! It's a hell of a game. Post your results if you feel comfortable doing so. Have fun!

Thanks everyone! Lots of great advice here! I think the things that I enjoy the most are 1.) the efficiency of the game engine, there isn't a lot of wasted action and 2.) I really enjoy the different mechanics that many of the cards have. To me they give the cards flavor and give the wrestlers character. It's a simple enough game to follow, but it has some more complex twists and turns and that makes it a lot of fun.
I appreciate the thoughts, they are helping me shape my fed! I like that this community is very laid back, seems supportive, and embraces the idea of different cards taking on different roles in each individual fed.

Sorry I'm late to the party, but welcome, Nic. Seems like everyone really gave you what I'd say as the most sound advice and being all "you do you" about how you run your game world. It's really that simple. Right now, I'm kind of experiencing my own issues that's slowed down my gameplay a bit, but I'm also devising a sort of big universe at the same time when I finally decide to pick the game back up proper.
I'm in the middle of ending my second season of Milky Way Fight League, which is my fed that's basically run like the G1 for the regular season, and an NFL-like Postseason. Beyond that, my main feds are a mainline IFC, run by Powermonger, which I'm looking to run New Japan-style with a large amount of stables, with everyone on the roster being part of one, no Main Unit. GLITTER is what I more run like a modern NWA, with just having short TV episodes at a studio, not really any PPVs in the future. ICOF, I'm looking to reboot into something more simple than what I had previously envisioned. Lastly I have a new upcoming brand, the Smack Network, a splinter of the IFC run by Gordon G. Smack that I'm hoping to run a lot like AEW.
For you, do what makes you have fun with the game. Like everyone said, look at other feds for inspiration, and we even have some house rules that spices up the game further, with myself coming up with A BUNCH of different match types.
