I search for a similar thread to this one but didn’t see it. Hopefully I’m not duplicating anything. Over on the Filsinger Games message board there’s been talk of a game mat and I’ve developed a few version of it that people can order from InkedGaming.comGetting back into GFP to play on my YouTube Channel has got me thinking about a game mat for this game. So, as I start development, what ‘spaces’ would you like to see on a GFP game mat? And which size would you like to see (based on the sizes at the link above? This game doesn’t ave a huge footprint so I don’t think the mat has to be too big. Once I get the layouts set I’ll upload a bunch of different designs here that you can download and order on your own.

I think 6 spots for the character cards would be good, maybe 2 more for the rules cards & deck of heck. I think the GFP logo on it would be cool too...

I've actually been thinking of this for a bit myself. A lot of my ideas are more based on my own personal play style, admittedly.
I sometimes run Atomicos (4v4) matches, so I think 8 character spaces would suffice, with the left side being red, and the right being blue. For Scientific Rules, put 3 token spaces for each side below the characters. I also run a rule for "Flawless Victories" (winning without rolling Block, Hit or POP) so I envision a token for that on the board too. Maybe a card spot vertically near the center for prizes (hard sleeves/prize cards like the Trios Medals and whatnot)

Since we have things now like "add 1 to POP," definitely the numbers 1-6 some where in circles to keep track of that with a token or some other chit. Other than that, I'm interested in seeing where the creativity takes it.

Now I'm also thinking about a Tournament Edition mat with the Tournament Edition card info.

Thanks everyone for the input. Not playing the game in a couple of years I see that there's a lot that's evolved. I will take all these into consideration and keep you updated on the progress. Chime in any time with thoughts.

Next time you’re playing a few bouts, snap a picture of your layout. That’ll really help me gauge what the mat should look like. You can post here or email me grant @ throwingtoasters . com

That is my game desk and set up, when I play duos or trios I put the cards next to each other with the fighters that are currently fighting in the center spot as pictured...

This is going to be a bit of a 2-post explanation of my whole set-up. Apologies about picture 1 being sideways. This is the "game board" that I use to play. All the play takes place on the left side one (along with a little preview of a match from my Smack Network I'm going to roll) This was made by my dad for his tablets/mobile devices for a game he plays on them, but he ended up giving that to me to play this game not too long ago. I pulled it out of its usual spot, and put it on my bed to get a full view of the board itself. The cards are placed in, and the dice are rolled in, the play area. Those two coins on the bottom (left most, picture-wise) are my Flawless Victory Tokens. Rolls of Block, Hit, POP or a FINISH take that away, and I slide them in their respective corner of the board. Normally only used in singles matches, but I also play ICOF with Flawless Victories for everyone in play, given the points system I use in that game for title contention, but that's unrelated. That top part's purely now for putting stuff like unused card sleeves and a hand-written rule book for house rules.

Here's the "game board" in action on my desk. I put it on the keyboard slider (this is probably gonna change with the move coming up late May, but I'm keeping the "game board" as my play area.) Here, I show how my Atomicos matches are laid out. Tiny Filsinger dice are used as my legal man indicators, card rules (if used) and the roster deck(s) I use that session go off the side on the desk.

I love the board look, plus it doubles as its own dice tray with the recessed areas. Very good stuff.

I have a very similar setup to Crimson Cross including the dice tray.
