CARD 11: Rocky, we hardly knew you! Vincitor d. Rocky to grab possession of the GFP World Championship in a solid bout (***1/2). Rocky couldn't punch his way out of this one, GFP fans, although it wasn't for lack of trying. He stunned Vincitor a couple of times during the contest, but Vincitor showed incredible resiliency (and an iron chin!) to keep wading in, and eventually put Rocky away. For Vincitor, this is his first GFP World Title.
Action from around GFP: In a Heritage Championship match, Ricky Stallion d. former Heritage champion El Halcon to successfully defend "his" title (**3/4). Stallion kept control of this contest for most of it GFP fans, although Halcon mounted a wave of offense during the middle of the bout. Stallion was feeling in fine form this evening, filling the arena air with "woo's"! He's almost too much to take!
Next Card: Our new champion will travel to Nashville, TN for his first defense against the great War Hawk.
GFP fans, the promoter wishes to thank you for your fine patronage during these first seasons of our promotion. The promoter especially wishes to thank our fearless leader Eric, for developing this fine game, and fostering this fine community. GFP may be a bit quiet for the rest of the Thanksgiving holiday, to allow for the promoter to visit with family, but rest assured, it will roar back into action soon enough. Happy Thanksgiving to each of you and yours!
Stallion: 1 Title Defense.

Vincitor was my first ever champ, so I hope he can build up a run. It'll be tough, but someone has to do it! Stallion with an iron grip on his belt...one has to wonder when he'll try to take the big gold. I've said it before, but I like the title run you do with each area, it's a nice throwback. Happy Thanksgiving!

It will be tough for a long run of the title, but I've gotten to the point where it doesn't bother me at all. Instead of long title runs, I'm focusing more on those guys who manage to win the belt multiple times (Ken Po & Rocky for me, so far), as these are the guys who, overall, are the most successful for me. It'll be tough for a long title reign, but eventually, someone will make a bit of a run. Until then, I'm going to focus on guys trying to win the strap multiple times, and feuds that develop over the belt.
Thanks for reading Eric!

CARD 12: Vincitor d. War Hawk to retain the GFP World Title in yet another solid match for the GFP World Title (***...many matches for the World Strap have been very entertaining so far, GFP fans!). Vincitor survived two pinning predicaments initiated by the great War Hawk, and after he survived the second one, it seemed to give him new life. His superior wrestling skills kicked in, and the outcome was never in doubt after surviving the early onslaught by the challenger. Vincitor's a tough out, and he proved it once again!
Action from around GFP: The Rocket-Riot Express d. the team of the Auditor & The Examiner to retain the GFP World Tag-Team Championship (**1/4). The RRE was never truly threatened in this one fans, acting like a well-oiled machine in defending their titles. It seems that they just needed to get by their long-time rivals Rabbid & Tick-Tock to come into their own.
Next Card: Our champion will next head to Johnson City, TN for a scheduled defense against the always dangerous Wrecker.
Vincitor: 1 Title Defense. Rocket-Riot Express: 1 Title Defense.

CARD 13: The Wrecker d. Vincitor to capture his 1st GFP World Championship, dispatching the former champion in relatively short order (**3/4). While Vincitor was able to mount some offense, it was largely The Wrecker with the upper hand throughout most of the contest. The fans enthusiastically greeted Wrecker's win, as they have warmed to the man with the mystical touch.
Action from around GFP: Hollywood Gunn d. Ricky Stallion to capture the Heritage Championship (****). Very good bout, as it often is with Stallion, but Gunn landed a big shot at the end to put Stallion to sleep, and win the title. Gunn continues his hot run, while Stallion has already vowed his revenge, saying nobody but him should be wearing "his" title. He's already petitioned GFP officials for an immediate rematch...
Next Card: The brash and cocky Style G.S. Lyle has been tearing it up on the singles circuit within GFP, and his hot winning streak has merited him a World Title shot. Lyle has already boasted that he will do anything and everything to win the belt. Should The Wrecker be concerned?? We'll just have to wait and see, as the match will come to you live from Louisville, Kentucky.

Really cool seeing both The Wrecker (what move did he use to win?) & Hollywood Gunn both winning gold on Card 13, wild stuff...

CC, he won with the Finger Strike, but didn't have to re-roll...he just won on the first try. I'm digging The Wrecker, and I'm sensing some good heat already between him and Lyle...

The Wrecker and Gunn with the belts, CC is probably a rich man after betting on them to win. I like the rotation of talent that you bring in, it keeps things interesting. Here's hoping Wrecker can build a streak!

CARD 14: Style G.S. Lyle d. The Wrecker to capture his 1st GFP World Championship in an outstanding match (****). Lyle, strutting right from the opening bell, was as good as his word, as he took every shortcut he possibly could to gain the upper hand over The Wrecker. The fans were incensed, especially at the end when Lyle made sure he taunted the fallen champion. The heat was off the charts for this match, and fans are clamoring for an immediate rematch!
Action from around GFP: WMD d. Laser Man & the NuBreed in 6-man tag-team action (**). WMD looked impressive tonight GFP fans, wasting little time with their opponents. WMD is well positioned now for a tag title shot!
Next Card: The fans have demanded it, and GFP officials have listened. The Wrecker will get his rematch with the irrascible Lyle, and it is proving to be a very hot ticket, the match coming to you live from Charlotte, NC.

I've been watching classic 1986 NWA's WCW Saturday shows and the action here reminds me of it and guys like Style G.S.Lyle and The Wrecker make it feel like that, plus WMD vs Lazer Man & NuBreed help the great 80's vibe, fun stuff Stu...

I appreciate the kind words CC. Also, I appreciate the great characters you've contributed to this game.
I know I've said this before, but just to re-iterate, I'm not concerned at all with the length of title reigns in my GFP. The game engine doesn't lend itself to long title reigns...and I've actually come to like that (possibly even prefer that). I like the fact that in any match, each wrestler (I'm old school, so I still look at this fed as a wrestling fed, so insert "fighter" if you're more of an MMA fan!) has a decent chance to win. It gives each match that much more weight.
Having utilized this "title tour format" for years now, it is my preferred method of playing....but I confess one of the few drawbacks to it is this: If you get a champ who isn't exactly a favorite of yours, and he keeps the belt for a long time, well, it can be a bit of a drag. With GFP (and in my actual fed GFP), this isn't a concern any longer, making this format even more preferable for me to play.
What I am concerned about is finding great feuds, all centered around winning the World Championship (giving each match the ultimate meaning). Finding that great heat between two wrestlers is where I derive a lot of the fun, and the challenge, from this game (and any other wrestling sim, for that matter). That's what matters to me now. The "title tour" format just helps me stay focused around the chase for the World Strap....what matters to me are the feuds that develop over that strap.
And, its looking like I have a good one brewing right now, with The Wrecker vs. Lyle!
Thanks for reading along folks.

CARD 15: The Wrecker d. Style G.S. Lyle to recapture the GFP World Championship for a 2nd time (**). The Wrecker landed the Finger Strike relatively early in this one, and it was curtains for Lyle. But then, as The Wrecker was celebrating his title win, Lyle regained his senses and brutally attacked Wrecker from behind with a steel chair, raining down blow after blow on Wrecker until the champ was a bloody mess. Finally, wrestlers from the back along with GFP officials rushed to the ring to restore order, and escort forcibly Lyle from the ring area. Lyle would've been arrested in all 50 states for what he did to The Wrecker GFP fans!
Action from around GFP: Ricky Stallion gained a measure of revenge by defeating Hollywood Gunn to win the Heritage Championship for a 3rd time (*). Stallion said all was right in the world, as he has "his" title back around his waist once again. He said he was heading to Space Mountain for now, but he wants a shot at the GFP World Title soon...
Next Card: GFP officials have ordered an immediate rematch between The Wrecker and Lyle, to try and settle hostilities between these two once and for all. This match will take place live and in color from Greensboro, NC.
