Hello everyone! I’ve been lurking for a few months and have finally gotten my IFC up and running. I have a good idea of the direction I want to take, but the dice will always have the final say...enjoy!
Commissioner Maleve was furious, but maintained her composure. This man ‘Tick-Tock’ and his toy bunny Rabbid almost jeopardized her extensive preparations for the inaugural Interstellar Super Grand Prix (ISGP). At least she salvaged the situation by allowing them into the tournament; hopefully his fighting is as good as his incessant babbling. She would have to look into this ‘key’ thing. After all her hard work, she refuses to allow more disruptions...her ‘support structure’ won’t tolerate them, anyway. At this thought, she lets a small smile escape. Hailing from a part of the galaxy known as the Lost Sector, Commissioner Maleve (pronounced Ma-leave) is a striking female humanoid alien with pale skin and vibrant purple and blue hair. While she has had several press conferences and interviews leading up to the ISGP, the only other thing known about her is the passion she has for the Intergalactic Fight Club. She was at the forefront of its establishment and has governed the IFC’s establishment with a firm determination. As the commissioner gets ready to leave her office to announce the group pairings and begin the ISGP, a figure materializes behind her. “Yes?” she asks calmly. “Have you thought about our proposal?” the figure asks. “Tell the group I concur,” Maleve says abruptly. “Tonight, everyone will understand the urgency of their own situations.” “And this ‘Tick-Tock’ character?” Maleve’s face tensed, then her expression became as stone. “I have ways to determine his plans,” she said calmly. “Good. We appreciate your...partnership,” the figure says and then disappears. Maleve lets another small smile escape. “Let’s find a Grand champion, shall we,” she says to no one in particular and leaves.
“Hype MacLeod here and the excitement and anticipation for this Inaugural Interstellar Grand Prix is through the roof! We have 4 groups of 4 fighters going at it round-robin style. The fighters with the best record in each group will move on to the final round, where they will face another round-robin style battle. After those battles, the finalist with the best record will win the IFC Grand Championship! Now, for ties, then the fighters who have the same record will fight another bout to determine the winner. Let’s start with the action in Group 1! Group 1: Yoko-Ohno, Punk A.D., Honest Abe, and War Hawk
- Match 1: Yoko-Ohno survived a brutal assault by Punk A.D., pulling out the victory with a Banzai Splash.
- Match 2: Warhawk and Honest Abe were evenly matched, but Warhawk caught Abe with the War Dance for the win.
- Match 3: Punk A.D. and Honest Abe battled back and forth, each one showing great endurance and determination. Punk A.D. grabbed the win after repeated Sonic Boom kicks.
- Match 4: Yoko-Ohno squashed Warhawk, nailing three Bonzai splashes in a row for a decisive victory.
- Match 5: Yoko-Ohno overwhelmed Honest Abe, who seemed exhausted after two long battles earlier.
- Match 6: Warhawk, embarrassed by his quick defeat to Yoko-Ohno, easily overwhelmed Punk A.D. and hit the War Dance for the win.
Group 1 Winner: Yoko-Ohno (3-0)
Abe sat in the back with the same stoic look he always maintained. Although he was alone, Abe refused to let the anger and frustration he felt show. “I didn’t come here to be a punching bag,” he thought, “but this is much harder than it is weird. Maybe I should walk away…” At that thought, a small scowl briefly appeared on the young man’s face before it was stowed away. “No...never will I give in to those types of thought.” At that moment, the commissioner gracefully approached. “Second thoughts?” she said while raising a thin eyebrow. “No, ma’am. I won’t quit,” Abe retorted with an air of respect and awe. “Good,” Maleve said, “those who didn’t advance to the finals are not done fighting yet. Be prepared.” “Yes, ma’am,” Abe responded as Maleve walked away.
More to come later!

Group 2: Rabbid, Death Star, Vincitor, Krusher Khan
- Match 1: Rabbid destroyed Death Star, hitting the Spine Smasher for the win after only 2 moves.
- Match 2: Krusher Khan defeated Vincitor with the Soviet Sickle after an exciting contest that could have gone either way.
- Match 3: After getting pummelled by Rabbid for almost the entirety of the match, Vincitor landed a Storming Elbow followed by the Kinniku Special for the upset.
- Match 4: Krusher Khan took advantage of a dazed and injured Death Star, quickly dispatching him with the Soviet Sickle.
- Match 5: Rabbid defeated Krusher Khan with the Spine Smasher. Krusher Khan held his own against the bionic bunny, but Rabbid’s offensive onslaught overpowered the Russian.
- Match 6: Although exhausted from previous contests, both Vincitor and Death Star showed great fortitude and provided the fans with an amazing match. After almost a full hour, Vincitor got the win with a Kinniku Special. Both men shook hands after the match.
“Hype MacLeod back with the final standings of Group 2 and...oh my...it’s a three-way tie for first between Rabbid, Vincitor, and Krusher Khan. Hold the comm...I’m getting a transmission from Commissioner Maleve...wow! Well, it looks like we will strictly adhere to the rules of the Grand Prix, and I do mean strictly! One bout...three finalists...fans we have a Triple-Threat Match coming up between Rabbid, Vincitor, and Krusher Khan to determine Group 2 finalists! This is amazing...and the fight starts now!”
In the locker room, Vincitor is making his final preparations for his three-way dance with Rabbid and Krusher Khan. As he stands to head toward the cage, Khan appears before him with his arms folded. “Comrade, we must talk” “About?” “This machine we have next...this Rabbid. He and his comrade Tick-Tock are not deserving of this honor,” Krusher says with extreme disdain in his voice. Vincitor lets out a chuckle. “Honor, you say. Would your friend, Ken Po is it? Would you want him to talk of you and honor,” Vincitor asks. In less than a second, every muscle in his body tenses as Krusher clinches his fists and spits, “I WILL CRUSH HIM!” Seeming to come back to his senses, Krusher takes a deep breath and relaxes. “Later...I will deal with him later. Now, we must deal with the bionic bunny...if we do not work together, then neither of us will have chance for victory, no?” Vincitor thought it over. He barely escaped with a win over the machine, while its untiring offense wore down and beat Krusher. The Russian may have a point. “Okay. We take out the robot together, then settle it between us.” “Good,” Krusher responded with a smile and a slap on Vincitor’s back. “And when we fight, it will end same as before...Krusher victorious!” Krusher snarled at Vincitor and headed toward the cage. “Not this time,” Vincitor said with determination. “Not this time.”
Group 2 Tie-Breaker (Triple Threat match): Vincitor wins an epic battle after KOing Krusher Khan with the Storming Elbow. Both men stayed true to their word, working together to neutralize Rabbid whenever the bionic bunny tried to get some offense. In the end, Rabbid had nailed Krusher with a Spine-Smasher only for Vincitor to knock him out of the way and finish off Krusher. Group 2 Winner: Vincitor (3-1) Kappy’s Note: This match was EXTREMELY fun! It took a lot of time, but the mechanics for the three-way dance outlined by Eliath on the (House) Rules of Fight Club board provided a smooth venue for a great fight. Never did I feel overburdened by die rolls; instead, I felt immersed in a chaotic yet very entertaining bout. Epic bout and epic fun!

Group 3: Party Pirate, Ken Po, Ratchet, Bobcat Jack
- Match 1: Ken Po defeated Party Pirate in a back and forth battle, with no one really getting the upperhand until Ken Po hit the Ryuken for the win.
- Match 2: Bobcat Jack downed Ratchet with a Solar Plexus Strike. Ratchet battled hard, but could not match up with Bobcat.
- Match 3: Ratchet nails Party Pirate with the Wrist Rocket for a big comeback victory. Party Pirate dominated the entire bout, toying with Ratchet at times. He never saw it coming...
- Match 4: Bobcat Jack walloped Ken Po with 2 straight Superman Punches at the opening bell for the rapid-fire victory.
- Match 5: Bobcat Jack dominated a jubilant Party Pirate for an entire match, beating the man blood and near senseless. Party Pirate, always smiling, caught Bobcat with a Crane Kick and earned an epic victory.
- Match 6: Ken Po quickly disposed of Ratchet, much to the fans dismay.
The smell of cheap cigars and the sound of pure fury blasted out of the locker room. The room itself looked as if a bag of thermal detonators had gone off all at once, and right in the middle was a cursing Bobcat Jack. “Mother frackin’ pirate was smiling the WHOLE FRACKING TIME! Like the beating I gave him was some kind of game!” howled Bobcat as he ripped a bench from the floor and hurled it across the room. “When I see him again, I’ll kill the piece of $#%&! I’ll shred him..” “Mr. Bobcat…., excuse me, sir…” muttered a terrified official from the Commissioner’s office. “GRRRRRR…...WHAT!” Bobcat Jack screamed while pummeling a set of lockers. Jack looked back and identified the man. He stopped pummeling his lockers and jammed his cigar back into his mouth. “What...is...it?” he snarled. “Sir, there...there was a tie...you...you have to…” the man stammerred. Bobcat Jack’s eyes filled with even more rage. “It’s that damn pirate’s fault...it’s all his FRACKING FAULT!” Bobcat ripped his cigar out of his mouth and handed it to the official. “Hold this, bub...I know, I know...I have to fight again. This won’t take long,” Jack said as he headed toward the cage to face his opponent. The official held the cigar in one hand, while desperately trying to hold back his bladder with what was left of his pride. Group 3 Tie-Breaker: Bobcat Jack stormed the cage, landed a thunderous Superman Punch on Ken Po, and came away the finalist from Group 3.
Group 3 Winner: Bobcat Jack (3-1)

The bout between Bobcat Jack and Party Pirate played out in a manner where that kind of outburst seemed appropriate. To be honest, I was mad for Bobcat...I felt like, given the way he dominated the match, he should have won but the dice went with Party Pirate. I love it!

Exciting action you've got going on in your corner of the GFPverse, I am liking that edge Bobcat Jack has and your overall write-up style is very solid...

Group 4: Tick Tock, Messenger, Rocky, Tiki Boom
“You summoned?” Messenger asked, no hint of emotion in his voice. “Yes. Do you have any information?” Maleve respected the man from the Second Realm, but always felt as if he was staring through her. She was still not used to it. “None as of now,” he responded. “We have assigned our best team. They will determine the exact nature of the threat.” “Thank you.” Maleve heard rumor of this “team” from the Second Realm...all of which boded well for her request. He may appear a madman, but she knew this Tick Tock must have something significant planned. After all, she used to be of that type. “Now, I believe you have a match?” “Yes,” was the Messenger’s response as he disappeared from the office.
- Match 1: Messenger laid out Tick Tock with Last Rites. Messenger stood over his fallen opponent, gazing down at the laughing maniac with no expression whatsoever.
- Match 2: Rocky KO’d Tiki Boom with a Super Combo KO early in the bout.
- Match 3: Rocky KO’d Tick Tock with a Super Combo KO early in the bout. Rocky looks in great shape and his confidence is sky-high!
- Match 4: Messenger’s only move was Last Rites, which knocked out Tiki Boom at the first sound of the bell.
- Match 5: After a clumsy bout where neither fighter could gain any momentum, Tick Tock defeated Tiki Boom with Dirt Boxing. Tick Tock smiled and lifted his gaze upward in the direction of the Commissioner’s box.
- Match 6: Messenger and Rocky battle a long, exhausting fight that had the entire arena on edge. Neither fighter backed down, but Rocky showed extreme heart in the end refusing to give in to Messenger’s offense. Messenger hit Last Rites for what seemed the 15th time to finally dispatch Rocky.
Group 1 Winner: Messenger (3-0)
After the final match of the first round, the lights go out in the arena and a holo-projection of Commissioner Maleve appears above the cage. “Ladies and gentlemen of the galaxy, your enthusiasm and support for the IFC and this event have made it memorable for all the competitors and myself. For that, I am personally indebted to you all...and will repay that debt tonight by giving you a bonus tournament!” The crowd goes insane while the fighters look on, confused yet intrigued. “Before the crowning of our first Grand champion, the 12 fighters who did not make the final round will compete in a three-round tournament I call the ‘Purification Challenge.’” The crowd reverts to full frenzy mode, causing the arena to deploy additional security in some areas. The four finalists break away from the rest and leave, looking for some place to rest prior to their fights. The other 12 remain, gazes fixed solely on the hologram. “The name is important, because the winner of this tournament will be “purified” from the taint of losing and join the four finalists as one of five ‘Protected’ for the remainder of the year,” Maleve says. “As for the remaining 11 fighters, understand that the IFC is only for the best fighters in the galaxy. If you desire to remain a part of this elite program, you will perform at an elite level. Seven of you will be labeled as Unprotected. You must show me that you belong here...you must win to prove your worth. For four of you, though, you will bear the mantle of ‘Cursed,’ and it is as dire as it sounds. There is little hope for the Cursed...but that hope will apply only to one of you....prove you are worthy of it. At the end of the year, we will hold a Culling...and all but the Protected should fear its coming!”

PURIFICATION CHALLENGE
“Hype McLeod back with you and oh wow do we have a mysterious event! Here is what the official com-channels are telling us about this Purification Challenge. The first round will consist of 4 triple threat matches, where the winner of each match will be the one who achieves the victory. That winner will advance to the next round, the semi-finals, and the winners of the semi-finals will meet in the finals. Both those rounds are ONE-FALL! No margin for error here! Now, some clues on the Cursed: those fighters in the first round who fall victim to the winner...the one who gets knocked out or generates the loss of the match, you are in trouble because you are now CURSED! Still no clue what that means, but hey...it doesn’t sound good. Let’s move to the action!” ROUND 1: TRIPLE-THREAT MATCHES- Match 1: Honest Abe vs. Ratchet vs. Tiki Boom. Honest Abe gets Ratchet in the LINCOLN LOCK after all three competitors put on a great bout.
- Match 2: Party Pirate vs. Rocky vs. Death Star. Party Pirate looked like he was going to get the win over Rocky, but Death Star slipped in and KO’d Party Pirate to get the win.
- Match 3: WarHawk vs. Punk A.D. vs Krusher Khan. Punk A.D. quickly dispatched Krusher Khan with SONIC BOOM KICK for the win.
- Match 4: Ken Po vs. Tick Tock vs. Rabbid. In a very strange match, Tick Tock commanded Rabbid to execute the SPINE SMASHER on Tick Tock himself, giving Rabbid the win! ("That man is fracking bonkers," said Hype McLeod under his breath.)
SEMI-FINALS: ONE-FALL
- Match 1: After a hard fought contest that could have gone either way, Honest Abe defeated Death Star with the LINCOLN LOCK.
- Match 2: Punk A.D. survived a brutal onslaught by Rabbid and got the win after hitting SONIC BOOM KICK.
FINALS: Honest Abe defeated Punk A.D with the LINCOLN LOCK. The Cursed Fighters are Ratchet, Party Pirate, Krusher Khan, and Tick Tock.
Typically stoic, Abe was overcome with emotion and let a single tear escape. After a very disappointing performance in the Super Grand Prix, he proved his worth. He was now “Protected,” whatever that meant. As he was about to leave, the Commissioner’s hologram appeared again. “Well done, Abe,” the hologram said. “In addition to your ‘Protected’ status, you will also compete for a chance at the Intergalactic Grand Championship. At IFC #1, you will face the runner up in tonight’s finals bracket to determine the #1 contender. Congratulations.” The hologram disappears and the crowd goes wild. “Hard work and persistence got me to this point,” Abe thought. “No sense in changing things up now...got me a championship to win.”

Finals: Bobcat Jack, Yoko-Ohno, Messenger, Vincitor
- Match 1: Vincitor overwhelmed Messenger, hitting the Kinniku Special for a quick victory.
- Match 2: Bobcat Jack landed a devastating Superman Punch to easily dispatch Yoko-Ohno.
- Match 3: Yoko-Ohno and Vincitor were evenly matched, but Yoko-Ohno finally put Vincitor away with the Jumping Knee Drop
- Match 4: Bobcat Jack was looking for another dominant win, manhandling the Messenger. Things were going Bobcat’s way until Messenger hit a lucky Palm Strike to get the knock out!
- Match 5: Bobcat Jack, still a little woozy from his bout with Messenger, succumbed to a Kinniku Special after a quick brawl with Vincitor.
- Match 6: Messenger and Yoko-Ohno landed some big shots on each other early, but Messenger got the upper-hand with a thunderous Last Rites.
“Hype McLeod back with you and boy-oh-boy we have had a great championship round here at the Inaugural Interstellar Grand Prix. And wouldntcha know it, we have another TIE! That’s right...Messenger and Vincitor have the same record. Now, since this is for the Intergalactic Grand Championship, the tie-breaker will be 2 out of 3 falls! The action’s about to start!” Finals Tie-Breaker: Vincitor versus Messenger
- Fall 1: After a close bout that almost saw Messenger get a knock out, Vincitor landed the Kinniku Special to win the first fall.
- Fall 2: Another epic brawl, with both fighters facing several close calls! Messenger wins this fall with a Head Kick!
- Fall 3: There was another level to Vincitor...he was the personification of controlled fury. Once the bell rang, Vincitor was relentless in his assault on the Messenger and got a quick and decisive victory with the Kinniku Special.
FINALS WINNER AND NEW INTERGALACTIC GRAND CHAMPION: VINCITOR
Maleve smiled as she watched the celebration in the ring. Although she had no favorites, she felt that Vincitor should represent the IFC well during their first year. Her smile vanished as her thoughts turned to Tick Tock. As a Cursed fighter, he was required to fight in all IFC events: local, minor, and major events. The next local event was in a couple of weeks, and it was going to be held somewhere familiar. "Let the Second Realm beings handle things how they wish," she thought, "I've got my own ways." She touched a button on the nearby com-link. "Get me a rep from Earth," she said as the smile crept back on her face.

Promoter Notes: I feel like I should give everyone some more insight into how I plan to run my fed. I’ll do a seasonal format, where each season begins with the ISGP and ends with ‘The Empowering.’ For the singles fed, I will have a maximum of 18 fighters...2 champions and 16 competitors. I find that any more or any less makes it a little more burdensome for me to manage. To keep a constant influx of talent, the 8 competitors who are in the bottom half will be ‘culled,’ meaning that they are either banned from singles competition for a season (those who end the season Cursed) or will have to earn their spots through the ‘Empowering.’
Which brings me to the Protected, Unprotected, and Cursed statuses. Fighters who end the season Protected will automatically return for the next season. Fighters who end the season Unprotected must finish in the top 8 to return for the next season; otherwise, they will have to participate in the Empowering.
The Cursed...well, they have little to no hope. But there is still a chance! Throughout the season, the Cursed will only battle each other at main event programs; winners of these battles will reap rewards that help them avoid ‘culling.’ The final event before the Culling (Redemption) is when we see if a Cursed fighter can stay in the fed!
Overall, I plan to run 10-12 ‘local’ events, 3-5 minor events, and 6 major events (Interstellar Grand Prix, SolarCade, Lost Sector Invitational, Galactic Uprising, Redemption, and the Empowering). At the local and minor events, ‘free agents’ (which are any fighter not among the 18) are allowed to compete against one another. The Protected are only required to fight at minor and major events, but can fight at local events if they desire. The Unprotected can fight at all event types. The Cursed, well they have to fight at all events.
That’s it! It’s been great so far and I look forward to sharing more of my results with y’all!
