Welcome to the Global Battle Federation, a branch of the Intergalactic Fight Club. The GBF welcomes fighters from throughout the galaxy and beyond. Initially invited to join the federation were sixteen fighters, fifteen males and a female named Ratchet. It was decided to hold an inaugural tournament to determine a champion of the GBF with the title being named the GBF Universal Heavyweight title. That card was presented at the prestigious Gotham Square Garden before a sell-out crowd. The following are the results of what many considered to be an outstanding night of action inside the cage:
Card #1 - Gotham Square Garden - GBF Universal Heavyweight Title Tournament First Round: Tick Tock defeated Honest Abe (TKO - Knee Strikes) Ratchet defeated Punk A.D. (KO - Wrist Rocket) Party Pirate defeated Rocky (KO - Party Punch) The Messenger defeated Tiki Boom (KO - Last Rites) Krusher Khan defeated Vincitor (KO - Soviet Sickle) War Hawk defeated Death Star (TKO - War Dance) Ken Po defeated Yoko-Ohno (KO - Ryuken) Bobcat Jack defeated Rabbid (KO - Superman Punch) Second Round: Ratchet defeated Tick Tock (KO - Wrist Rocket) The Messenger defeated Party Pirate (KO - Last Rites) War Hawk defeated Krusher Khan (TKO - War Dance) Ken Po defeated Bobcat Jack (KO - Ryuken) Semi-Final Round: The Messenger defeated Ratchet (KO - Knee Blaster) War Hawk defeated Ken Po (TKO - War Dance) Final Round: War Hawk defeated The Messenger (submission - Crazy Horse Clutch) to win the title
(Promoter's Note: I was very impressed by the performance of Ratchet who battled her way into the semi-final round. The final round match between War Hawk and The Messenger was brutal. It went back and forth and included War Hawk hitting his power play to stay in the match. War Hawk was pushed to the limit in all four of his matches but managed to get to the finals and strike gold. Other highlight matches for me in terms of great struggles were Bobcat Jack vs. Rabbid and Ken Po, Krusher Khan vs. Vincitor and War Hawk, and Ratchet vs. The Messenger. Since these are MMA style battles I used what I felt right to describe the finishes as KO's were awesome hits and TKO's were the winner doing just enough to win. I was unsure of what kind of move the Wrist Rocket was for Ratchet so I called it a submission (Edit: Thanks to JJ_Strife for the correction that the Wrist Rocket is a striking or KO finisher). I hope that you enjoyed this first show and I hope to post more in the future. Card #2 is set to take place at Snake River Canyon and will feature Ratchet vs. Ken Po in a top contenders battle and a free agent showcase with Fahrenheit vs. Txur'Itan. I have to say that this game is a blast and special thanks to fellow promoter Crimson Cross for inspiring me to join in.)

Pretty nice tournament. If you're still wondering about Wrist Rocket, it's a striking finisher. A throat punch with one fist followed by the second fist to the side of the head. Honestly, when I looked at the book, I was a bit confused about Wrist Rocket myself, but more how the move would actually work.

I didn't get a character guide with my set so I was unsure of what Wrist Rocket would be but now that you describe it that makes sense that it would be a strike. I am going to edit that now.

That was a good run by Ratchet and I was pulling for her to win it all, but that's very cool Warhawk wins your title. Warhawk for me hasn't been able to reach that level he has for you, even Ratchet has not been much in a good spot in my title hunt. Excellent start, keep it coming...

Quick question: Is it War Hawk or Warhawk? It is spelled both ways on his card. I went with the spelling on the front of the card.

Eek has previously stated that the name is properly "War Hawk", he noticed the spelling error too late to change. With that said, call him whatever you wish, we will know who you are talking about. Ratchet won my title tournament and went 8-0 defending it, so I understand how you feel about Ratchet, as I feel the same. I am not surprised by The Messenger, as he was my fighter of the year in my inaugural season. War Hawk's performance however continues to surprise me. He performed dismally for me, but I enjoyed watching him destroy everyone for you (except The Messenger). You've got a great start going in your fed. Looking forward to Ratchet vs. Ken Po (I say "RYUKEN" aloud every time Ken hits his finisher).

Yeah Ratchet really surprised me but in a good way. I started to pull for her to win the title but she fell to The Messenger. I really like the card for The Messenger, art and moves, and wouldn't have minded him winning he gold but War Hawk was in beast mode it seems. Those two will have a title rematch on Card #3 so it will be interesting to see who wins. Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it.

Glad to see you post. For the booklets, I'm no longer printing them with reprints of sets, but am working on pdf for them. All first runs of sets get booklets though.

I look forward to being able to get a PDF of the booklet. I'm late to the party so I missed out on the first run of sets but the community is great and I am already learning a lot. I am loving the game system it is a lot of fun.

Card #2 - Snake River Canyon
Free Agent Showcase: Txur'Itan defeated Fahrenheit (KO - Kim'pxex) Punk A.D. defeated Rabbid (KO - Future Fist Smash) Death Star defeated Tiki Boom (TKO - Backflip Dropkick) Krusher Khan defeated Tick Tock (KO - Soviet Sickle - Fast Forward) Honest Abe defeated Yoko-Ohno (submission - Lincoln Lock) Ken Po defeated Ratchet (KO - Ryuken)
(Promoters Note: I really enjoyed rolling out this second card of my GBF. The main event sadly was over pretty quickly as Ken Po blitzed Ratchet and hit the Ryuken for the big win. Po is now in line for a title shot against War Hawk but first The Messenger will get a title shot at GBF Card #3 at the Mystic Island Arena in a rematch of the tournament final. The best match on the show was Punk A.D. over Rabbid. What a war and it could have gone either way but that was a huge win for Punk. Honorable mention also goes to Honest Abe vs. Yoko-Ohno. I had my first Fast Forward finish with Krusher Khan over Tick Tock. I used Khan's finisher for the result which is probably what I will do for all Fast Forward wins. So far Rabbid and Tick Tock are struggling for me. The next card will also feature some more free agent showcase matches along with a big semi-final match between Rabbid and Yoko-Ohno as both big men look to pick up their first win in my fed.)

I really like the location names Gotham Square Garden and Snake River Canyon, so I'm looking forward to what other names you'll use...

Tick Tock is a beast for me, even though I designed him to be weak. Rabbid hadn't done much for me outside of a short title run. Keep up the great action.

Thanks for the comments Crimson and Eric. I was hoping for Tick Tock and Rabbid to do better based on the storyline on the info card but thus far both have struggled. I am looking forward to Rabbid going against Yoko-Ohno though. As for arena names I am just trying to think up fun ones, mostly earth based, and holding a card at Snake River Canyon was my nod to Evel Kneivel and the infamous canyon jump. Imagine a card held on the edge of the mountain Thus far it looks like the arena names I use will be thought up on the spot as I put the cards together. I don't have anything written or planned out yet as far as arena names. The next one is at Mystic Island Arena.
